The 46-unit apartment complex sits on 2.6 acres and is situated directly south of the Kendal at Oberlin campus. The property was purchased from Jon Veard of United Property Management in Lorain after having a written agreement with Kendal offering an option to purchase should an offer be made on the property. Barbara Thomas, Kendal Northern Ohio’s chief executive officer, stated “We are pleased with this unexpected opportunity knowing its current use provides an excellent housing option to low and moderate income families, including seniors. We know the importance of retaining affordable housing in Oberlin and the need for even more based on studies conducted by the City of Oberlin.” The building has maintained excellent occupancy even during the pandemic and offers a desirable location with proximity to the expanding Oberlin Schools campus. No changes are anticipated for the use of the property other than its current purpose of housing for seniors and families.
